But I can't be bothered to practice my guitar
I'm not gonna sing you a cover song
'Cause I'd only make it sound all wrong
I got the can't play for shit & my voice is shot to hell blues [...]

www.fiffdimension.bandcamp.com/album/the-marion-flow-taranaki-1999
w/ Paul Winstanley - fretless bass
Steve Duffels - drums
A fleet-footed moment gives itself up to grief
I fall into a puddle with you underneath
& now I'm living underwater & living overfed
Coffee & smoke coming out of my head
I see you silhouetted in the door
I see your reflection in the floor
I see your shadow on the wall
But I don't see you at all
It's OK, this is the day
Keep on moving in that sunny kind of way
Could it be I'm getting high?
No-one's in charge & no-one knows what to do
They don't want your soul; money will do
& it's a hook-staggered world filled full of regrets
As the government's putting you deeper in debt
I saw the frown on the clown as he was taken down
Moving the show to the pictures all around
& it's a hook-staggered world which just might
Only be a bile phantom in the alcoholic night
It's OK, this is the day
Keep on moving in that sunny kind of way
Could it be I'm getting high?

The silly little bald man does not exist
but for a poem
it all is regained
& concrete glares
with cellphone smiling faces to own,
protest marches ignored
& as the red car goes by I think middle finger
& old men are shaking hands
but there is no one inside

Loose hang the load upon head. Loose hang the head lest the high weight of load hang the hand within were times. And release waters load. Loose hang the hand lest the low weight of woo waits the waters in tow. And a fine weight of remembrance persevering relying in upon told. And a tired weight of remembrance hanging down upon head.
In a loose hanging hand held the world. Hang with the hold. And a sigh of persuasion. Resulting in sewerage. Win the weight of the world. Win relate on remembrance. Win relate on in hand. Hand held the weight. Weight relate on the obverse side in upon head. Weight relate to the in upon world. Oh the world within pause. Wait a sudden wail of worry. Were on our own. And a teeth-clenching fool. Who held the hand in the wound on the walls? And a hand held the whom? Relief takes a laugh to the in on him days. A fine feel of friendly open pastures. Time takes a loose leaving shadow vagueness. Relieve autumn moans. Relive watered tones. And a time training perfume article shuttered. Too many people now will struggle in vagueness. The release form of friendly openness. And a time taken in were times. Back in the day.
Hand in the were times. When a wee fortune falls. And a fortunate rest lie awake smiling untoward. Upturned and in shadows. Turned him in vague. We will speak onto shade. Hand a sigh of relief. In a peaceful relief gleam and purposeful toad.

& Mike Kingston - cello
('I liked it a lot; it was the worst chord I've ever seen'.)
Leave aside the poet-strangled engineer ear-sprain
nothing get paid for until it gets dark
over the ocean shine down the sun, into the kingdom
where I plan to vent forth unreason, & here I lay guilt
A black claw of diamond cloud perfume dissolves me into background noise; high above the street I sail, dusty mountains, ravens wail; the face crawls, full of seashells & vermin; bring in beauty, it's your duty - I'm too shy to even say hi; we need to enact a paradigm shift, so we get really stoned & we get really pissed; visionaries exchange pleasantaries, cartoon characters sing the blues; the city's blinkered blinking enclose our loud albino progress; out all night for an all-out night, wasted in the wings with baby-food music, I am dirty & mocking & I stumble at chance, I am sly superficial with a sideways glance, grey haired with freedom & information blindness.
The wild running hunger was begged & profound to a hunger of stone-envious wood running progress, mental gnome church gotten home re-gotten captured, re-growing sideburns, a tunnel vision fits, glances that waver; camera pointed at the sun, crappy turntable blasting out beats - & we have questions to ask regarding its value - ahead smiling face prostrated in shower, another drunken figure kneeling abased before toilet & 15-year-old girl passed out on the floor; we took to the t.v with a baseball bat, & went into town with a shopping trolley & liquor... but we never met Elvis, not even that night.

from www.fiffdimension.bandcamp.com/album/after-maths-sciences-vic-2005
O Henry, falling leaves & branches talk a worried sad refrain,
your eyes half tilt, your brain half mast
to tie the fond anonymous bond beyond your aching shelter lying walls
that fall to fall & raise the days, museum haze
O Henry for the season, falling autumn rains reigns its claim to fame,
your head a handsome sleeping sound,
your ship not sleeping in the sand when run aground, you stall tall story disco library, white with dust & wiped & fussed;
open even over time does not mind to go in blind
O Henry, unforeseen your odds are even now to me
I don't see how you never lied, you never cried;
your melancholic putrefaction changed its dirt & you were left unhurt -
& you went waltzing through the door, to be O Henry ending nevermore,
nevermore

One female evening ships defining dark upon the pen
And Christ become a jailer
Couldn't separate the me from the iconography
When will the master become the servant?
The curtain arrow word time hand shot to mislinger
& a freefall served them askance
The upside-down seasons untoward uneven innocent
In the antipodean moonlight
Whatever happened to knowing is naught (no he is not) and a slamming of doors?
I would come to the sun setting, doing no harm
& its place were a band of misfits
Tired of his laugh & pay & pray for all to what its worth
He came upon a Celtic crown & caught ye up an arrow field
Not less than mean for all its purpose
All the intents were out of date, the grateful leaving innocence
When progress came down to the table
Gleeful owners trade & salivate
The meek shall inherit the Earth
They're the only ones who know what it's worth
As they work their hands into it

(Previously unreleased)
Loosening in to a pall of cold fracture,
rivening structure & opening condemned
a veil to repeal from the moon to cause capture
with caffeine-wide eyes & I'm useless to my friends
for city-trained values that hide on the streets
are in for far out & a found metal sign,
plastic melting into the grime
a slide & a roll going down on the way
Weak/week ending chiseled
& the night for the ride going down
I said 'you've got to be the best friend that I couldn't lose again'
You had given me the best time; it cut right through the artistry
I had been working like a fountain, in the slender morning chill
My only regret was knowing that we were only half insane
Words can enter & fracture, & heightened reveal
That the language is just like a simile
Trying to write is like Simple Simon going for water in a sieve
'in my bones I lay captured, & in music lies death' he cried, spit flying with the force of bad news
We crumble & break to lie back to the wake
for the awkwardness postures, asleep
The truth ending up the negation of sound
The music gets trapped between ecstasy & the neighbours
He stands & stares, in a screaming silent leash
I said 'you've got to be the best friend that I couldn't lose again'
You had given me the best time; it cut right through the artistry
I had been working like a fountain, in the slender morning chill
My only regret was knowing that we were only half insane

& so it comes off with a tone knocked out, loose intermarriages petrified in birdcages, lateness wells up in interiors; iron wrought drownings, ironies alive with innocent sensations, a sentient being blitzed off his ruin, a stagnant stag night was riled up with rain; this won awards on weeknights all across houses & toenails, an evening aligned with nuances [...]

“I liked the lyrics… the the way meaning gets assembled through shattered snap shots of a picture we may never see”
– Dr Emit Snake-Beings
I did the bass improvisation first, then played along with it on guitar and banjo, then improvised vocals with nonsensical syllables (Paul McCartney conjuring ‘get back’ in the documentary), transcribed, rewrote into English words (if not grammar), and fed that into Google search and read out cutups (Burroughs) of the search results to supplement it… I’ve had hangups for years about writing, so was looking for ways to short circuit my conscious doubt.
the title ‘assembling disconsonant’ describes the method?
meaning is optional
chance methods are supplementary
but starting with the bass part ensures the whole thing is built on a (human) groove
& stylistically a middle aged update of (early 2000s) solo tracks such as fiffdimension.bandcamp.com/track/in-a-who-gets-to-who-who-does-him
lyrics
Assembling disconsonant,
(fine do it all in half take);
hours of wisdom, years of folly.
Far digressed - how far digressed at a woeful seed inconsolate engraver’s nest
How hard to be in vain
How many times of an awkward persuasion upon the twenty years and twenty more and hence the days of which were gone & now to rest.
A suitor sang he was inclined to raise the best achievements blessed & heard the worst & called a hearse & vain & vaguely followed favour on the rest declined.
Declined in favour on the rest to be the best & live in vain achiever's nest with leave was blesst & obviating scrying
Meticulously dragged upon & a bird’s beak greed construed with macroeconomic trade sessions, subscriptions now open declined (the underappreciated Old Testament Galatians had suffered great reproach). Many afflictions & persecutions, theoretical thrifty gene.
Nothing more than had to be at said, nothing more that had to be at days, tomb towards them in time, hand the rest in brave the test in mouth begotten porcupine time expands in furtive graze to grind.
The only hope for awkward days
In said to be at sun was said to set in severed set in needle's rest in groove.
Nonsensical of syllables attempting to reinstitute a thing for an institution only slightly half dizzy - he’d gotten off work at only 5:20...
