아리랑 (Arirang)

about

Banjo rendition of a traditional Korean folk tune 아리랑 (“Arirang”). The banjo is not typically found in Korean music – this would normally be played on a gayageum.

I first learned 아리랑 in 2007, while living (employed teaching English) in South Korea. Here’s a contemporaneous version, live in Busan with Cylvi M: www.youtube.com/watch?v=videoseries?list=PL26D01AF2105C675D&w=350&h=182]

Living and travelling in Asia exposed me to all kinds of new sounds and ideas – my world’s been bigger for it ever since. I took the banjo with me.
